The Canadian Thunderbirds Baseball Club is committed to supporting the growth and development of Amateur baseball in the province of Ontario and throughout Canada. Through our personalized development programs and instructional clinics as well as our in-door pre and post season conditioning camps, it is our goal to ensure that each of our players attain the highest standard of achievement in their attempts to maximize on their individual potential as baseball players.
Young American ball players with the same or similar athleticism as their Canadian counterparts begin to develop at an accelerated rate after Major Little League due to better coaching, facilities and competition. It is a commitment of the Thunderbirds coaching staff to give our dedicated, young athletes this same opportunity. This includes an understanding that it takes more than an individual’s physical skill to be a good baseball player. Bigger is not always better. A player must understand the game and his role on the team. A player must master the fundamentals (e.g. how to properly field a ball, the proper mechanics of throwing and catching, how to trigger at the plate, etc., etc.). Without these basic fundamentals, it becomes increasingly difficult, if not impossible, to move to the next level.
As in the past, our coaching staff will continue to council each of our athletes regarding the need for them to obtain good grades at school as well as the importance of continuing their education beyond secondary school graduation.
During the 2005/06 playing season in order to improve on the levels of competition for our team, as well as raise the profile of our elite Canadian Athletes, our baseball club plans to participate in several major tournaments both in Canada and in the United States, which are well attended by many College, University and professional scouts. We have also established our own website on the internet where the profiles and bios of each of our players can be readily accessed by these same Colleges and pro-scouting organizations.
It is the sincere belief of our baseball club that amateur athletics contributes greatly to the physical, mental, spiritual and character development of all those who choose to participate. Those of us on the staff of the Canadian Thunderbirds Baseball Club are dedicated to doing whatever we can to assist in this development.
